Make incredible polymer clay border designs to embellish your clay and crafting projects quickly and easily. These designs make excellent scrapbook borders and photo frames. The open ended cavities make removing borders a snap.
Roll a snake of conditioned clay. Apply a small amout of automotive protectant spray (like Armor All®, STP® or Son-of-A-Gun®) to the rolled clay. (This will help release the clay cleanly from the mold.)
Press clay into the desired design cavity. Make sure there is extra clay extruding from the sides of the mold. (The open ended cavities make removing borders easy and minimizes stretching and distortion.)
Now shave off all excess clay, along the top only, from the mold by using your clay blade. (Always handle blades with extreme care and never allow children under 16 to handle clay blades).
Remove the clay border by gently lifting the clay up and out using the excess clay on each end.
It is now ready to be attached (by using Lisa Pavelka’s Poly Bonder™ glue) to uncured, baked clay or other surfaces.
Other mediums such as hot melt glues, ultra thick embossing enamels, soap or air dry clays can be used with these molds.
To create a more elegant border, apply Lisa Pavelka’s Craft Foils™ or mica powders to the clay before inserting into the mold.
To acheive an “antiqued” look, apply acrylic paint or Rub 'n Buff™ to the baked borders and wiping off the excess.
